Volcanos represent an active threat to both population and infrastructures in their vicinity. In addition to the spectacular lava flow that encompasses some volcano eruptions, ash plumes and ash deposition are two main sources of destruction and disruption in the local regions around the volcanos.

In this map the probability of ash load deposition in the vicinity of the Vesuvius volcano near Naples, in Italy, is shown.
